September 11^th Tribute/Leadership Convocation 2009

On Friday, September 11, 2009 the Academy of the Most Blessed Sacrament held a tribute to the victims and families of the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center  followed by the Leadership Convocation ceremony for 2009 in the Academy gymnasium.  Father Renato Bautista led the assembly in  prayer and mathematics teacher Mr. Jeffrey Kurzius spoke about his personal experience in New York City in 2001 reading a poem written by his daughter reflecting on that tragic day.  The tribute was followed by a ceremony commissioning the Academy’s student leaders, including the nationally recognized Aquinas School’s Heads of House, Student Council officers and class representatives for the 2009-2010 academic year.  Father Renato performed the benediction and congratulated the students.  Ms. JoAnn Mathews, Principal, and Mrs. Judith Gray, Student Council moderator, both addressed the students speaking about the role of leadership, responsibility, respect and faith in our AMBS community. Congratulations to our student leaders.
